Tauch Terminal is well run, but is really configured for german package dive tourists. Nice room, nice grounds, well run, but the restaurant prices are in dollars and are exorbitant by Indonesian standards. And the menu is boring to the point of being inedible. Why pay so much for such boring food? At least its safe, I guess.

Anyway, I went up and down the beach, checking out all the restaurants. One stood above the others, Mimpy. No guests, restaurant always empty, but the food was good and the prices were lower than Tauch. We made a deposit arrangement with them. I gave them a $100 bill as collateral while we ate there without paying with Rupia. When we leave we charge the entire sum on Visa and get the $100 bill back. This saves us from having to change money in such a small town, and keep our Rupia for local purchases at the small markets.
